Anne Smith Petersen, CEO writes, “Today, we gathered leading experts in the field of impact investments and civil society to discuss how to create sustainable social impact with innovative financing approaches.
If we are to achieve the 2030 agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, it is paramount that we find new ways of mobilizing capital and scale up impact investments to increase the positive impact and sustainable development.
Today, only 7% of investors are based in sub-Saharan Africa. That calls for action. We need investors and the private sector to allocate available finance and channel it towards sustainable development and tapping into our decades of experience and boots on the ground as an INGO in many developing countries.
This is why, PlanBørnefonden is about to launch a new impact investment foundation as the first NGO in Denmark – but building on tons of experience from Plan Canada, Plan Spain, and Plan Colombia, who as INGOs have achieved great results in the impact investment field.
Together, we can work in the intersection of gender lens investing and climate change, investing in job opportunities for the youth and community resilience, while ensuring equal opportunities for women”.
Thank you, Stine Bosse, Charlotte Jepsen, Ole Thonke, Keimpe Keuning, Kathleen Sherwin, Christina Juhasz, Rami Khouri, Angela Anzola and Natasja Crone for inspiring discussions.
